Pay It Forward, Deccember 2010
Happy Holidays everyone! This is a great time of year to get together with family and friends over a glass of eggnog. Does anyone still drink that stuff?
We are right now selling our 2011 SSWBN Women and Their Pets calendar. This has been such an exciting project that will highlight all the events that SSWBN is offering for 2011. It also offers an intimate look at 12 of our members with their beloved animals. I encourage you to buy at least one calendar. You will be supporting your network and the calendar will be an easy way to remind you of the events that are coming up that month.
If you are a member but do not attend any events, you are missing out on opportunities to let this network help you grow. SSWBN is still a well kept secret. Why not let other businesses know that there is a place for them to feel accepted, to grow their business and to meet other women who are more than happy to help? Like what you see on the calendar? This is the first time we have put together a calendar and much work has taken place in a short period of time. If you would like to help plan the 2012 calendar, or see yourself or your business featured on one of the months, let me know. We’re putting together a 2012 calendar team in February.
On December 9th at our After Hours, we will be announcing the winner of our Caribbean Trip with the Prez. What other network offers you the opportunity to get away in January for only $50? Temperatures in the ‘80s, warm water and all the business talk you can stand! I find that it is a great time of year for me to reflect on my business and decide how Dirty Deeds will improve in the coming year. Let me help you do the same for your business.
As of December 1st, we have also moved the SSWBN offices to new space in Hanover, right on Route 53. This move allows us to save a considerable amount of money in rent every year, which means more of your membership fees can go to paying our fabulous staff and putting programs together that benefit your business.
SSWBN is a business just like yours in that we operate on a budget and have some months that are better than others. I encourage you to ask me or any of the Directors on our Board how your membership and event fees are used, so that you have a better understanding of how this organization works. We can always use people on our finance, professional development, membership, marketing and golf teams, which in turn will give you a broader understanding of how our budgeting process works. I hope you will also join us for the State of the Network breakfast January 27th 2011, where we will highlight all these areas.
Happy to lead with fun and humility,Janet
Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap
Pay It Forward Tip for December: Are you having a neighborhood or family get-together for the holidays? Your guests want to bring something for the host. Why not suggest that instead of bringing yet another bottle of wine, that they bring a canned good for you to donate to the food pantry in your town? We do this every year at my house and our neighbors look forward to this tradition of helping others.
