Monica Horan, President of Express Employment Professionals, is happy to share the news that her office earned top honors at the international staffing firm’s Sales Summit regional meeting recently held in Philadelphia.  Monica’s Braintree Express office received the award for excellence and achievement in sales, recruitment and job placement.

Worldwide, Express Employment Professionals
puts nearly 300,000 people to work each year and has more than 550 offices in
three countries.  Express provides expertise in evaluation hire, temporary staffing,
professional search and human resources, and works across a wide variety of
industries. Sales for the Oklahoma City-based company totaled more than $1.9
billion in 2010.  Congratulations to Monica and her team!

Bonnie Spence from Raffael’s at South Shore Country Club is pleased to
announce that the bowling alley has been completely remodeled and the Tour Golf Pub will be adding a third golf simulator.  Guests can enjoy both of these activities and enjoy fine dining at Raffael’s.  Please drop by to check out theseactivities and say “hello” to Bonnie!

SSWBN GOLD Partner Raquel Mullaney and her team at Comfort Keepers recently participated in the South Shore Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Walking for a Cure.

On September 16, a beautiful evening on Hingham Harbor, Stacey Shipman, Stress Management Consultant and Speaker, Marlo Mae Manning of HRSolutions@work,  Nadidah Coveney and Clemens Leung, Branch Managers at Rockland Trust were each recipients of the STARS 40 under 40 Awards.  The awards are presented to 40 professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated strong leadership within their respective organizations and especially in their communities through their volunteer efforts.  Congratulations to Stacey, Marlo Mae,  Nadidah, and Clemens!

Congratulations to Craig and Allison Guido of Almar Building & Remodeling,  recently named as two of Professional Remodeling Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Stars, and featured in  the July issue. The intro to the article by Jonathan Sweets states: “(These)  individuals represent the future of the residential construction industry. From  a consultant who helps homeowners manage the remodeling process to green gurus  to second- (and third-) generation remodelers who are carrying on a family  tradition of quality, they’re 40 of the brightest stars in remodeling.”  Congratulations to our local Stars!!

Congratulations to Stacey Shipman of Feel Good Living and Marlo Mae Manning of HR Solutions for receiving a Stars 40 under 40 award. Celebrate with them at the awards ceremony at the Hingham Shipyard.

Veva Johnson, President of The Massachusetts Educational Foundation Inc. would like to welcome three new members to its Board of  Directors.  These exceptional women bring their experience and vision to join forces with the mission of the organization by sharing their talents and
skills as we grow the Foundation.  Ava Glaser from Market America, Beth Harper-MacDonald  from Crittenton Women’s Union, and Jackqueline McCarthy from Coffee News of Mass.  Welcome Aboard!

Congratulations to Martha Tassinari, Physical Therapist and owner of South Shore Healing Center in Duxbury, who recently published an article for Self  Growth Magazine relative to her work with veterans.  Martha has achieved significant results performing CranioSacral Therapy for those suffering from  PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).  If you know anyone suffering from PTSD, please help by sharing this article.   Thanks, Martha!

Lynn Feingold, Singer and Owner of Songs of the Colonial Days, joined the Board of Directors of The Folk Song Society of Greater Boston, a 300-member organization that has encouraged the performance and appreciation of folk and traditional music in the Boston area for over 50 years.  Congratulations, Lynn!   

Cathy Follett, Owner and CEO of Renovisions Inc in Hanover, became President of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce in June.  She also was named ‘Business Person of the Year’ at the final Board meeting.  This honor is bestowed on a person in the Hanover area who best exemplifies outstanding work ethic, perseverance, a positive attitude and notable community leadership.  Way to go, Cathy!!

Greetings!  I am proud to share these exciting accomplishments from our members …

Barbara Case has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Investments at Moors & Cabot.  Barbara joined Moors & Cabot in 2009, bringing her investment expertise to the respected Boston firm.  Her background in business and financial services includes degrees in accounting and business management, experience as a sales executive with two Fortune 500 companies and executive positions with two prominent Wall Street investment firms.  Barbara is a member and past president of the South Shore Women’s Business Network and serves on the Boards of Directors for the South Shore Women’s Business Network, the Educational Foundation and the Pembroke Chamber of Commerce.  She also writes a financial column for South Shore Woman magazine.

 Lisa Wheeler, the owner of Copy Inks, is excited to share with us that they have recently re-branded and expanded.  Copy Inks introduced “The Diva” who is the new social media personality for the company.  Along with the much anticipated arrival of The Diva, the company also introduced a new logo and website.  After 15 years working at Copy Inks, Lisa grew the business to a point where the company needed much more space.  On April 22, Copy Inks held an open house to showcase their new office space, which is conveniently located above the store.  Get to know a little more about Copy Inks by becoming a fan on Facebook or following them on Twitter.  From pre-press to production, they work with you to bring your vision from concept to completion in a wink!

 Roberta M. Sousa, Norwell Branch Manager of Rockland Trust has been promoted to Vice President.  I started my career with the bank sixteen years ago as a teller.  I am proud to work at Rockland Trust which has been recognized by The Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work.

Greetings!  Here is an exciting accomplishment from one of our members who has used her Contacts, Coaching and Collaboration…

As she pursues a new speaking career, Rosemarie K. Lanchester of Everything You Wish For earlier this year provided her second presentation for the annual Yankee Dental Congress in Boston.  Following the success of her first presentation in 2010, entitled Teaching Your Patients Self-Hypnosis, she was asked back for the next two years! 

This year’s CEU-earning presentation, How to Improve the Quality of Your Life, had an audience in excess of 300!  Congratulations, Rosemarie!

On March 17 this year, Rosemarie gave a presentation at South Shore Hospital’s Stroke Support Group, and she plans to do others with hospitals and rehabilitation centers in the near future.  Her main focus of Emotional Freedom Technique has helped many people achieve homeostasis in an easy, self-administered way.

Congratulations to Paula Harris of WH Cornerstone Investments in Duxbury, recently elected First Vice Chair of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at the Chamber’s annual meeting.  The honor follows terms as both Second Vice Chair and Treasurer for the organization.  “I am honored to be elected to serve the membership of the South Shore Chamber,” said Harris. “The Chamber continually advocates on issues that mean the most for its members to succeed in their businesses, while creating and cultivating relationships with other dynamic business leaders.  I’m proud to have the opportunity to serve this important organization.”

Martha Tassinari of South Shore Myofascial Release Healing Center announced the Center’s new Facebook fan page., on which there is access to great information and a special report on how craniosacral therapy can help with migraines and headaches.

Congratulations to Pauline Alighieri of The Friends of Mel Foundation, the recently announced winner of the prestigious 2011 Exceptional Women Award for Community Service!  Boston radio WMJX MAGIC 106.7, with its co-hosts Candy O’Terry and Gay Vernon, will honor Pauline and other winners in different categories, at its Exceptional Women Luncheon, scheduled for this coming May 6^th at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.  The radio talk show created by Candy O’Terry in 1992, and co-hosted by Candy and Gay Vernon from which the award stems, EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN airs Sunday mornings at 7:30 on MAGIC 106.7 and again at 8:30AM on MAGIC 106.7 HD-2.

Nadine Pfautz of C.H.A.R.T. Consulting has completed a Train-the-Trainer Program certified and conducted by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD).  The three-day program, Preventing Discrimination in the Workplace, included interactive presentations and a practicum.  In March, Nadine will participate in the two-day Harassment in the Workplace Train-the-Trainer program.  Certification offers Nadine the opportunity to be on MCAD’s list for referral to employers seeking trainers, and makes her eligible to deliver Commission-ordered remedial training.  Congratulations, Nadine!

The SSWBN Board of Directors recently amended the organization’s by-laws to create the VP position, in conjunction with an amendment to allow a president to serve two consecutive terms.  In the past, the President-Elect served as a ‘seco nd chair’ position.  That will continue whenever we elected a one-term president.   The VP will serve without expectation of being the next president.  Congratulations and thank you to Janet LaBerge of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap for her recent election to the unprecedented two-year term!
