Diane Sargent of South Shore Elder Services, thanks SSWBN Executive Director Katie Howard, President Janet LaBerge of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and the Board of Directors for the South Shore Women’s Business Network for choosing SSES as one of the not-for-profit agencies to support in their fund raising efforts.  “I especially want to thank Janet for coming to the walk and missing ‘Mass,’ and Katie for coming and bringing her family,” said Diane.  “It was a fun event in support of our Meals on Wheels Program.  SSES delivers more than 1000 meals a day to frail elders in the eleven South Shore towns that we serve.  Sincerest thanks to all who participated.”

Jennifer Mitchell of Senza Sole thanks Stacy Mafera of Errands Etcetera for helping her with her three-minute presentation at the networking lunch this month.  Stacy allowed Jen demonstrate how her sunless mobile tanning salon works by using her products on Stacy.  It was great to have a live model to really show the results.

As this year comes to a close, I would like to extend to you all my heart-felt wishes for a wonderful and prosperous New Year!  I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Rosemarie Lanchester of Everything You Wish For would like to thank Stacy Mafera from Errands Etc. for her help getting her price listings for services on her website.  “Stacy approached me after a three- minute presentation I gave a while back, saying she knew someone who could use my services.  She is such a wonderful resource and helps me with many types of things.”  Rosemarie would also like to thank Laura Willis of Willis Works Communications.  “Laura referred me to speak at a wellness retreat on October 1st in Hanson.   My classes had the highest attendance and I received a lot of positive feedback! said Rosemarie.  “I very much enjoyed the experience and was asked by the owner to do some workshops at the Whitman Wellness Center as a result!”

First, a personal and heart-felt thank you to Lois Drukman of  Walter May Insurance for her generous donation of a handicapped-assistance recliner for my  sister who recently moved to Braintree and is struggling with a debilitating disease.  The chair was perfect for her.  I feel very fortunate to call you not only my insurance agent, but my friend. Hertz of SOHO Systems IT services, who came out after the hurricane to replace LaserLight’s crashed
computer.  “Mike had me up and running with a brand new system and all the backup I need, and he did it without having any electricity in his home and office for days,” said Patty.  “That’s creative customer service!”

I hope you all had a fantastic Summer!   September is the month that is known for a great networking.

Gerri Presby of our Network would like to thank Lori Cook of Bryantville Deli for catering “the best BBQ [she] ever tasted” for
her husband Grant’s 50^th birthday bash.   Lori’s husband, Jason of A-Bee Tent Rentals provided the tables and chairs.  Lori and
Jason brought in their own grill and cooked ribs, tips and chicken to perfection.  There was plenty of food and it was absolutely delicious.  Everybody raved about it!  And Gerri got to enjoy the party!  “Lori told me to leave everything up to her and it would be a great day.  I did and it was better than I could ever have hoped.  Thank you Lori for everything!!!  Gerri conveys a thank you also to Kristen Foristall of Sweet K,  who made the most adorable cookie party favors with Grant’s picture at age 3.  “Definite conversation piece and just  yummy,” said Gerri.

Jane Ford of The Joy Path sends in her appreciation, stating. “I want to tell the world what a fabulous job Victor Moulton of Moulton Cleaning did on my carpets.  I had procrastinated on
getting this done for way too long and they were a mess.  He accommodated my schedule so that we
wouldn’t have to be home while he was cleaning.  I love having business colleagues I can completely trust in my  home.  Now my carpets look like new.  Victor, I promise not to procrastinate and will call you sooner next time.”

Rosemarie Lanchester of RKL Business Associates, and Everything You Wish For would like to thank Laura Willis from Willis Works Communication, for  her referral to The Haven for Healing Foundation, which is holding a women’s retreat on October 1st at Camp Kiwanee in Hanson.  As a result of her referral, Rosemarie is offering two workshops that day, one at 11 am teaching Emotional Freedom Technique and Muscle Testing, and the other at 12:30 on teaching Self Hypnosis, called “Stop Acting Like a Chicken.”

Laura also developed Rosemarie’s  RKL Business Associates business cards which  brands her, as they look like a credit card, which are the services she sells in that business.

Patty Funder of LaserLight for Men and Women sends out a big hug to Mike Hertz of SOHO Systems, who despite suffering the loss of his beloved electricity for days following Irene’s windy rant last week, came to the rescue when the company computer fried itself.   “I have two jobs that depend on me being able to publish and work through my laptop,” said Patty.  “Mike had been all over the place trying to borrow electricity from other sources, and yet he dropped things to get to me, save all my data, and hook me up with not only a beautiful new Dell, but an external drive and all the programming I can handle to keep me in business.  What a guy –  what awesome customer service!”

And I am sending out a huge thank you to Rod Ott, of Gordon, Mond & Ott for giving me some great legal advice and helping take our business get to the next level.   Also, thank you to Kristin Foristall of Sweet K Cookies for making wonderful cookies for my daughter’s graduation party. They were phenomenal!

Summer is coming to a close and I hope you all take some time to enjoy it.  Personally, I am looking forward to the Fall after the blistering heat we’ve been having.  It’s also a great month to step up networking efforts!  On with the Connections …

(SSES) reports that SSES recently moved to a new office at 1515 Washington Street, Braintree.  “We want to give a big vote of  thanks to Mike Christopher and the team from MyTech Solutions for the great job they did moving our computers and servers.  We closed our old location on Friday night and by Monday morning we were up and running without a glitch. Amazing work!” 

Lynn Feingold Songs of the Colonial Days sends a big thanks to Donna Toma-Lawlor of George Washington Toma for Donna’s expert assistance when her refrigerator died.  “Donna made a recommendation based on my specifications, I checked it out online, paid over the phone, and the old one was taken away and the new one installed by their friendly team less than 24 hours later!  Now that’s service!  If you need a new appliance, talk to a Toma and get it done!” said Lynn.

Eileen Baker of Eileen’s Travel Adventures would like to thank two people.   The first is Lois Wood of Lois Wood Graphic Design.   “I’ve been procrastinating about spending the money on a new website which I sorely needed.   After suggestions from several people in the Network I decided I needed to bite the bullet, and do it,” she said.  “After meeting with Lois and supplying her with the information she needed, my website was up and running within a few weeks and it is fabulous.   I’ve received a lot of great comments.  Thanks, Lois.”

 Is it really April?  It seemed as if it would never come.  I was so pleased to attend our March luncheon at our new location, the Hingham Beer Works, and to see so many of you there.  To Judy Walsh-Rodriguez of WatchAll: Welcome back my friend!  You made the March 16^th luncheon a special one.

 Judy asked to include a number of thank-yous this month.  “I would like to thank so many of my friends of SSWBN and their unending support over the past four weeks – to Janet LaBerge of DDDDC who was and still is so supportive of me.  She visited more than once while I was in the hospital, she kept me company at home and picked me up and drove me to places that I needed to go.  She made me laugh, which is the best medicine.  She is truly a wonderful person and a woman that I, as well as so many others, can always count on.  To Katie Howard of SSWBN, who brought me treats and kept in touch to make sure I was OK and didn’t need anything.  She is awesome and makes being involved in SSWBN a pleasure.  In the past few weeks, Premiere Pros has seen a dramatic increase in business as compared to last year.  I hope your businesses are all experiencing the same.  With our main source of advertising being networking, it speaks volumes as to the importance of organizations like SSWBN.  And speaking of such, we have a record number of connections to share this month! Ford of The Joy Path.  Jane has agreed to be the guest speaker at the “Aging is Everyone’s Future” Conference, hosted by South Shore Elder Services, at Lombardo’s in Randolph on May 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:30 pm. Jane’s presentation will provide caregivers with the tools they can use to help themselves while caring for a loved one.  If you have never heard Jane give a presentation or conduct an educational seminar, come to hear her at this event for an exceptional treat.  The conference will also give guests the opportunity to visit a wide variety of information booths that offer services and programs that can support them if they are or will be caring for an elder loved one. It will also provide information to those preparing for retirement. 

Diane would also like to thank Kate Frost of Cruise Planners for helping her arrange a cruise to the Western Caribbean for her and her grandchildren.  “Kate was very responsive to my needs and budget, and it was a pleasure working with her,” said Diane.  “If you are looking to plan a trip I would recommend Kate.”  Diane also wants to thank Katie Howard of SSWBN, Janet LaBerge of Dirty Deeds and members of the Board of SSWBN for choosing South Shore Elder Services as one of the agencies the Network will support in its fundraising efforts.  SSES is truly grateful for the support.

 Stacey Shipman of FeelGoodLiving.com would like to thank the following people:
Alison Schirone, of AC Associates, who recently spoke to a group of health and wellness professionals on the topic of marketing. This is a new community Stacey created and Alison was her first speaker.  “The group loved her,” she said.  “Thank you!”   Stacey recently gave a talk to the Dynamic Divas on the topic of creating strong connections, and she thanks Lois Wood of Lois Wood Graphic Design  who acted as her volunteer audience member.  With Lois’ support, courage and willingness to do the unexpected (a headstand!) Stacey found that her talk was that much more successful.

 In January Stacey attended a SSWBN Lunch-and-Learn conducted by Bernie Heine, Professional Business Coaches, Inc. and she won Bernie’s raffle prize, A Free Business Evaluation.  “Bernie spent about 90 minutes reviewing the evaluation results and making suggestions for my improvement. He helped me organize my how-tos into an easily implementable list,” said Stacey.  In thanking Bernie for his help, Stacey “definitely recommends” one of Bernie’s evaluations, which he offers as part of his coaching, to anyone who might feel like they need a little help getting/staying on course.

 To Kathleen Ogar of Infinite Health and Wellness, who Stacey recognizes as “not only a trusted colleague, but a great friend,” Stacey thanks for the space Kat has offered her for the new health/wellness community she created to meet and network for the past few months!

 Kristin Foristall of Sweet K sends in “a big thank you” to Christy Kendrick of Acme Glass for putting her in contact with Mabel’s Kitchen in Plymouth.  Mabel’s Kitchen is now supplying Kristin with edible images for Sweet K’s new logo cookie venture.  “I am happy to be supporting another local business, and I appreciate Christy’s support in introducing us,” said Kristin.
