Pay It Forward, February 2011

It has been a tough transition back from the beaches of St. Thomas to the frozen tundra that is New England.  I am thankful for the opportunity to soak up some sun to get me through the next couple of months.  I am especially thankful that Elizabeth Pineault and her husband Steve were the winners of the Caribbean Vacation with the Prez because they were excellent guests and embraced the local color with me.  Keep your fingers crossed that January of 2012 might find you as the winner of the contest!

The results of the SSWBN survey are in and …

Happy 2011!  What a great year this is going to be for our network.  Join us at the State of the Network breakfast on January 27th to hear all about it.

We will be celebrating our 20th year by giving back to the communities that have embraced our businesses.  We are participating in four events that address health, infants, elders and domestic violence.  All four charities will have an opportunity to speak at the breakfast and tell us about their organization and how we can help them.

We will also be giving our members a chance to pick …

Happy Holidays everyone!  This is a great time of year to get together with family and friends over a glass of eggnog.  Does anyone still drink that stuff?

We are right now selling our 2011 SSWBN Women and Their Pets calendar.  This has been such an exciting project that will highlight all the events that SSWBN is offering for 2011.  It also offers an intimate look at 12 of our members with their beloved animals.  I encourage you to buy at least one calendar.  You will be supporting your network and the calendar will be an easy way to remind …

Pay It Forward, November 2010

November, more than any other month, is a time that has me reflecting on the year and counting my blessings.  I have met so many giving, kind people through SSWBN.   Those experiences alone give worth to the price of admission for me every year.

The older I get, the more I understand that the people I have in my life are far more valuable than any of the things that I have acquired.  I think that this recession has been a good thing in many ways, because people have been forced to re-evaluate how they spend their money and their …

Pay it forward – October 2010

The cooler temperatures give notice that October is upon us.  I am a hot weather, living-in-flip-flops kind of gal … but October does happen to be the month that has my favorite holiday in it: HALLOWEEN!  Romantics choose Valentine’s Day, Patriots choose Veteran’s Day and Shopaholics choose Christmas.  What’s so special about Halloween, you ask?  You get to dress up and pretend to be anything that you want.  You get to jump out and scare people.  You get to go to stranger’s houses and they give you free candy.  What’s not to like?

I have a good friend who has …

Pay It Forward Challenge for September:  When you are putting together the packet of school supplies for your kids, make up one extra and bring it to the school to give to their teacher.  Tell her to give it to someone in the class whose parents couldn’t afford it.  Make sure to tell your child what you did so they get the example of generosity.

Lead by Example:  Your Kids Will Be Our Leaders, Caretakers

Ah, September!  Every year at this time, I picture the Staples commercials with the father pushing a shopping cart full of school supplies, skipping along …

Hello, and Happy Summer!

Man, it’s been hot.  I’m a little envious of all of you members who have a nice air conditioned office to sit in, while I’m sweating it out in dusty attics and basements!  Hopefully everyone is finding time to spend a little time at the beach, or hanging out with family and friends, while still doing business.

I’m so honored and excited to be your President this year.  So many people showed up for my Coronation . I mean for Celebration!  I’m going to prove all year long that we can have fun and still …

June is often a time to reflect on the goals – both personal and professional – that you set out to accomplish this year. So how are you doing?

I just started making a list of my accomplishments to date, along with those things I have yet to complete. With six months to go, there is still have plenty of time; and if you need help to ensure a successful end to 2010, the Network is here to support you along the way.

As I think about all that the South Shore Women’s Business Network has accomplished, I am humbled.  Two …

I want to welcome our new members who have joined us in the last month, and thank those of you who have recently renewed your memberships. I appreciate your support of the Network and your belief in the importance of support networks.

Creating support networks is a key component to your success as a professional. While the SSWBN as a whole provides that support, did you know about some of the smaller groups within our Network that available to you? For example, did you know about …

Spring has arrived, and as we all try to dry out from the recent rains, the weather is warming up.  It’s time to come out of hibernation and back into networking and business building.

And of course as a network, our mission to help you do that!  The first quarter of 2010 brought many successful events with fantastic speakers including Hank Phillippi Ryan, investigative reporter,  and Peg Feodoroff of Spirited Sisters, creators of Healing Threads.   We continue the second quarter of the year with a similarly dynamic program.

Looking for professional development?  Try a Lunch and Learn or NEW! Coffee …
