SSWBN began celebrating its 20th year with a ‘State of the Network” Breakfast yesterday.

Four charities were chosen by our 20th anniversary team to support in 2011.

The Network will partner with the domestic violence shelter and resource DOVE, Inc. ; South Shore Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit; South Shore Elder Services; and Friends of Mel.  As part of the network’s “Moving Forward, Giving Back” campaign, join us to participate as a team in charity fundraisers and events for the four organizations throughout the year. Stay tuned for details.

President of the Board of Directors, Janet LaBerge’s “State of the Network” address highlighted a number of new programs set to launch in the coming weeks, including regular networking lunches at the Hingham Beer Works; a member-to-member business discount program; and a formal mentoring program that will pair new SSWBN members with seasoned veterans, who will help introduce them to other members and the organization’s numerous networking and professional development programs.

The State of the Network meeting also featured the announcement of results from the South network’s annual survey of its 300 members. As in last year’s survey, 50 percent of respondents reported that their South Shore business experienced financial growth in 2010, while just 9.3 percent reported a decline in business. Of those respondents who reported financial growth, 23.9 percent reported growth of 10 to 20 percent, while 17.4 percent reported gains of 21 to 30 percent.

Survey respondents also expressed satisfaction with the South Shore Women’s Business Network’s programs, with 79 percent of respondents agreeing that the network helps build business relationships and 73% agreeing that it offered valuable networking opportunities. Thank you for your feedback!

Thank you to Comcast Business Class for sponsoring the breakfast and announcing their discount plan and how it can help both you and the Network. Contact Katie Howard for details at khoward@sswbn.org.

We hope you will celebrate with us!

  1. What a wonderfully inspiring State of the Network this past Friday. So many new faces! I love that SSWBN is supporting 4 local charities this year and so proud to be a part of the Network. All the teams are aligned to do some great things this year and our Board of Directors is a great group of hard-working dedicated individuals.
